Match Reports

Tough Losses for Both ORSU Teams
March 13, 2010 -- The ORSU D2 men fell to the Pacific Rovers, who continue their unbeaten season in the Pacific NW.
On the bright side, ORSU fought to the finish, making tough tackles, putting in two well-executed tries by KP Mapapalangi and Mike Lewis, and another crash over the line that was judged held up. However, the fine efforts were still not a match for the Rovers, who continue to be dominant. D3 also suffered a loss, in a close match with Corvallis. However, the squad is resilient and will be eager to bounce back and push themselves again next week versus current league leaders Budd Bay.

ORSU Playoff Picture Promising

March 12, 2010 -- Both ORSU men's squads are in good shape to qualify for the PNRFU playoffs this season. The D2 team currently sits in second place in the South division of PNRFU with 4 league matches left,
while D3 sits at second in PNRFU with 5 league matches still to play. However, big matchups over the next few weeks will determine how the final standings shake out. Both teams have tough opponents this weekend, with D2 traveling north to the Pacific Rovers while D3 hosts Corvallis.

ORSU Women Having Fun this Spring
March 12, 2010 -- The women's division has no league matches in spring, making it a fun season of friendlies and a great time for rookies to
get their feet wet. ORSU's rookies have done so admirably this spring, jumping into the fray with spirit. The women have posted wins in their friendlies versus Budd Bay and the U of O, and look forward to heading to Seattle for a round robin with the Mudhens and Budd Bay on March 20th.

Close Loss to Tsunami for D2

March 6, 2
010 -- ORSU versus Tsunami is always a close match, and always an extremely physical one. This spring's clash was no exception, with the Tsunami posting a narrow 7-point win. The game was neck and neck for first 60 minutes, with each team answering back to tie each other's scoring. ORSU were down by 2 points due to the difference in a missed try conversion, when a large group altercation broke out, with multiple blows thrown. It was unsure at first if play would continue, but it eventually did, with the Tsunami putting in one more unconverted try for a final score of 17-24.

D2 Falls to Snake River in Boise

February 20, 2010 -- ORSU took on Snake River in an exhausting, physical
match in Boise, but couldn't manage to overcome the strength of the home team. The match featured gritty play, with every possession contested, and little scoring until the second half. ORSU had several chances in the opposition 22, but was only able to put one over, a try to prop Enrique Lopez. Snake River showed superb determination, finally busting open the floodgates with 3 tries in the final 15 minutes of the match and final score of 5-25. The D3 team had better results, notching a 28-20 win in a friendly versus a combined Boise State and Snake side.

D3 Starts Spring Strong

February 13, 2010 -- The D3 men's side started their 2010 spring schedule with a solid away win over Eugene, 27-8. This brings ORSU's D3 season record in league play so far to 6-2. The Jesters travel to Boise this weekend for a friendly against BSU, and take on the Quake away in league play the following weekend.
